Critical Study of the Chaos of Legislation Related to the Basis of Adulthood in Agreements in Indonesia

This study aims to critically examine the chaotic legislation related to the basis of adulthood in agreements in Indonesia. In various statutes and regulations in Indonesia, there are variations related to age limits, especially the definition of adulthood. This has implications for legal uncertainty and a lack of guarantees for citizens in making agreements. Therefore, the definition of adulthood is an important foundation in the legal framework so that it can be designed to protect citizens' rights. This study uses a normative legal approach that focuses on the normative analysis of applicable laws and regulations, legal doctrine, and various relevant academic literature regarding legislation on the level of adulthood in Indonesia based on the theory of legal certainty. The results of the study found that it is necessary to create a rule regarding a person's level of maturity by referring to age. This is very important to be a reference for other regulations. Thus, this effort can be expected to avoid the impression of chaotic laws and regulations based on adulthood in agreements in Indonesia.
